What is it?
A western adaptation to fire cupping, which comes from Chinese Medicine. Modern cupping requires no heat source and come in two variations – silicone cupping or plastic/glass cupping with a pump. In all variations a cup is placed on the skin creating a suction effect that pulls the skin away from the body.
What does it do?
As the skin is pulled away from the body, it has a strong and unique de-compressive effect on the tissue below which helps reduce pain and bring blood to the area; facilitating our bodies natural healing. The suction can often leave a circular bruise at the treatment area but will dissipate after a few days.
